A Request for Proposal (RFP) is a type of contract. Typically foundations often use RFP’s to give away money in the form of a grant. You may apply for these grants if you qualify. The RFP specifies what the company wants to give the money to and you must follow strict guidelines in applying.

Follow directions

Read the RFP. Discern whether you are qualified or not and whether this grant is something you are able to carry out. A careful reading should help you decide whether you are qualified. Be aware, however, that you must still decide whether your project you are seeking money for fits the description of the grant opportunity.

Do the research

Follow up with a background check of the company you are seeking funds from. Learn what they have given funding to in the past and whether your interests suit theirs. Your project has to fulfill their requirements.
