How To Identify Types of Rhinitis
Rhinitis is commonly known as stuffy nose. It occurs when the internal areas of your nose become inflamed or irritated. When you have rhinitis, you often find it difficult to breathe through your nose, and you often experience runny nose or nasal drips. The nasal dripping is caused by irritation or inflammation of the nasal membranes because of viral or bacterial infection or simply because of plain irritation. Thus, the nasal membranes secrete much mucus, which often drips out. The condition is often referred to as runny nose. Rhinitis is also characterized by itchiness in the nasal cavity, often accompanied by sneezing. Your eyes, ears, and mouth (the roof part) can also feel itchy when you have rhinitis.
Rhinitis is a condition that can be classified into three types based on cause or source. The three types of rhinitis are allergic rhinitis, infectious rhinitis, and vasomotor (non-allergic) rhinitis. Each one is briefly described below.
